Brenna Komistra, a fifth-grade enrichment teacher at Roosevelt Elementary, has been named the 2026 Outstanding Educator by the Wisconsin Association for Talented and Gifted.
The honor is the top annual recognition WATG gives to classroom teachers in Wisconsin. Komistra was selected for her impact on students, her contributions to gifted education and her dedication to helping students build on their individual strengths, according to a Kenosha Unified School District announcement.
KUSD Superintendent Jeff Weiss and Board President Carl Bryan joined Komistra's colleagues at a ceremony at Roosevelt Elementary on Tuesday, Oct. 27, to mark the award. Bryan, who was elected board president in April, holds a doctorate in educational leadership and previously served on the KUSD board from 2009 to 2015, according to his KUSD profile page.
The award goes to educators who advocate for gifted and talented students, pursue ongoing professional development and demonstrate leadership in the field, the district said.
