Kenosha Unified School District is spotlighting student paintings and sculptures in its latest Fine Arts Showcase, posted Oct. 29 on the district's website and Facebook page.

The September/October edition is part of a recurring series. KUSD ran a similar showcase in March 2026.

The showcase lands during a packed stretch for the district's arts programming, headlined by the KUSD Jazz Festival at Tremper High School, 8560 26th Ave., running Nov. 5–7.

Opening night begins at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 5 with a concert by Phat Phunktion, a nine-piece funk, R&B and soul band based in Madison. The group was founded by Al Falaschi, a Bradford High School alumnus, saxophonist and songwriter. General admission tickets are $10.

The festival wraps Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m. with all KUSD jazz ensembles performing alongside guest artists. Reserved seating for that concert is $10, with a limit of three tickets per person. The district will also stream the performance live on its YouTube channel. Scott Plank, KUSD's coordinator of fine arts, is listed as the contact for the festival, according to the event listing on kenosha.com.

Two free family events round out the month. Author Michele Garza will present her book "Ruth's Ducks" at The Art of Storytelling on Thursday, Nov. 12, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Somers Elementary, 1245 72nd Ave. Hands-on activities and a light meal are included.

STEAM Activity Night follows Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Ruth Harman Academy, 8518 22nd Ave. Families can try hands-on science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) activities. A light meal will be served.

Both family events are free and open to all community members, not just KUSD families, according to the district.
